“TEEN OF CHARACTER” Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted for the Faye Lister and Chris Perkins Scholarships 

The Character Counts! Advisory Council is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Faye Lister “Teen of Character” Scholarship, awarded to a graduating KIHS senior, and the 2026 Chris Perkins “Teen of Character” Scholarship, awarded to a graduating QACHS senior. These $500 scholarships, made possible through the Centreville and Kent Island Rotary Clubs, are available to any high school senior attending a public school in Queen Anne’s County who exemplifies the six Pillars of Character – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. 

Students are invited to apply by completing a brief application, accompanied by a letter of recommendation, and writing an essay of 350 words or less responding to one of the following the prompts:  

Option #1: Describe a meaningful goal, project, or challenge and explain how the Pillars of Character guided the actions taken to work toward or achieve it.  

Option #2: Which of the Pillars of Character have the most meaning to you and why? Share real life examples showing how you live these values. 

All nominees must be candidates planning on attending a college or trade school. 

Applications will be distributed to both high schools in Queen Anne’s County and can be found at www.peopleofcharacter.org. You may also pick up a copy at the Character Counts! office at 104 Powell Street in Centreville. 

All applications must be received by Friday, April 17, 2026 by 3:00 PM for consideration.
