Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation Offers Free CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification for High School Students
Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation (QACPR) is giving local students the opportunity to gain life-saving skills for free. Through funding from the Out-of-School Time Grant, provided by the Queen Anne’s County Local Management Board, QACPR will offer four certification sessions in CPR, First Aid, and AED training to Queen Anne’s County high school students.
The department’s initiative aims to promote the importance of CPR training and empower young people to respond confidently in emergency situations. “We have seen these tools save the lives of the people we know and work with, so we understand the importance of such training” said Recreation Manager James Miller. The classes are taught through American Red Cross by certified CPR/First Aid/AED instructors.
All classes will take place at the QACPR main office, located at 1945 4H Park Rd., Centreville, MD 21617, on the following dates: October 19, November 22, January 31, and March 15. Students are encouraged to reach out to their respective high school’s career coach to enroll. For students not enrolled in QAC Public Schools, you can contact the Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation Department directly.
