Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority Honors Community Pride Award Recipients and Recognizes Departing Board Member
The Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority (QACHA) recently recognized the outstanding contributions of its residents and the dedicated service of a departing board member during its Board of Commissioners annual meeting, held on September 8, 2025.
The Housing Authority recognized Judy Kropfelder for her service on the Board of Commissioners from July 2020 through November 2023. Kropfelder served as Vice Chair.
“We are deeply grateful for Judy’s commitment and leadership,” said Mike Clark, Executive Director of Housing and Family Services. “Throughout her tenure, she exemplified transparency, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making. Her steady leadership helped guide the Housing Authority through challenging and unpredictable times.”
As part of the board’s ongoing transition, Stephen Wilson was re-elected as Chairperson. Rick Cira was elected as Vice Chairperson to fill the vacancy for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Housing Authority also presented its annual Community Pride Awards, which celebrate residents who go above and beyond to improve their communities. Honorees included:
- Terrapin Grove Gardens: Maureen Whaley, Susan Dolle, and Diana Sell for their work in the gardens.
- Grasonville Terrace: Sam Stokes and Charles Reed for their efforts to keep the grounds clear of litter and trash.
- Foxxtown: Gary Webster, Debbie Brunetti, Beverly Dadds, and Butch Dadds for maintaining gardens and creating a welcoming environment.
The Housing Authority of Queen Anne’s County serves residents and the broader community by providing safe and affordable rental housing opportunities for low-income individuals and families, while supporting their path toward financial independence. Several facilities also provide independent living units for seniors, connected to county senior centers. The Housing Authority also manages scattered rental sites across the county and administers housing vouchers in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
In March 2024, the Housing Authority entered a new partnership with Queen Anne’s County Government, which now serves as its official management agency. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring quality, accessible housing for residents across Queen Anne’s County.
