Queen Anne’s County Provides Update on Countywide Broadband Expansion Efforts
At the recent 2026 Economic Outlook event, IT Support Manager, Megan Delgaudio who has spearheaded the effort, provided an update on the countywide broadband expansion efforts. Queen Anne’s County continues to make significant progress expanding broadband access to unserved and underserved areas. Since the adoption of the County’s Broadband Strategic Plan, Queen Anne’s County has worked closely with state and federal partners, internet service providers, and local stakeholders to close connectivity gaps and bring reliable high-speed internet service to residents and businesses across the county.
To date, more than $7.8 million has been invested in broadband infrastructure within Queen Anne’s County, including approximately $1.3 million in County funding, $2.75 million from the State of Maryland, $1 million in federal funding, and $2.75 million invested by internet service providers. These figures do not include an additional $3.6 million regional investment made through partnerships between Choptank Electric Cooperative and the State of Maryland that also benefited portions of Queen Anne’s, Caroline, and Somerset counties
Current broadband projects are in various stages of completion, with construction and permitting activities underway throughout the county. DelGaudio emphasized that broadband coverage maps represent approximate service areas and will continue to be refined as projects are completed and new data becomes available
Also highlighted, was the importance of resident participation in ensuring that remaining unserved locations are accurately identified. Residents are encouraged to verify their service status using the FCC National Broadband Map and to explore available assistance programs, including the Long Driveway Grant, which may help offset the cost of connecting homes located far from existing infrastructure. Additional information and resources are available through the County’s Broadband Advisory Council and GIS tools, and residents who believe they may qualify for assistance are encouraged to contact qacbb@qac.org for guidance
This update builds upon the County’s recent broadband announcement outlining ongoing expansion efforts and remaining opportunities for eligible households to connect to high-speed internet. Residents are encouraged to review that release for additional background and to stay informed as projects move forward.
