Housing Authority and County Housing Staff Partner with the Bay Area Association of REALTORS® for Brunch & Learn Event
Staff from the Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority and the Queen Anne’s County Housing Office partnered with the Bay Area Association of REALTORS® (BAAR) to host a Brunch & Learn at the Kramer Center in Centreville. The event brought together landlords and Realtors from across Queen Anne’s County to learn more about local housing programs and explore ways to strengthen community partnerships.
BAAR serves Queen Anne’s and Kent Counties and was established in 1996 through the consolidation of three local boards of Realtors®. The organization provides a strong voice in the protection and promotion of property rights and helps foster the dream of homeownership. It supports its members through training, advocacy, and programs that emphasize professionalism, integrity, and community service.
The presentation, titled “Understanding the HUD Housing Choice Voucher System and Housing Programs in Queen Anne’s County,” was led by Mike Clark, Executive Director of the Queen Anne’s County Dept. of Housing and Community Services, along with team members Cindi Boone, Kelly Huber, Hasani Poku, Lisa Gray, and Kenya Wilson.
Presenters shared information about the Housing Choice Voucher Program, landlord and tenant responsibilities, and Housing Quality Standards inspections. They also discussed programs that support property improvement and housing stability, including Housing Livability and Rehabilitation, Affordable and Workforce Housing, and Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing.
The Brunch & Learn provided a chance for open discussion among landlords, Realtors, and housing staff. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and learn how collaboration can help create stronger, more stable communities.
“The purpose of this event was to build bridges between landlords, Realtors, and our housing team,” said Mike Clark, Executive Director. “Members of the housing departments and I really appreciate what our Realtors and landlords do to help support those who have an extra hard time affording housing. The work they have to do is often a little more, but it means so much to our organization and the people we work to assist. By working together, we can expand housing opportunities for residents and help ensure that all Queen Anne’s County citizens have access to safe and affordable homes.”
