1. What is Development Review?

If someone is interested constructing a new building, which is called a site plan, or creating another lot from their existing lot, which is called a subdivision, that requires review by this department of Planning & Zoning.

2. Where is the Development Review office located and what are the hours?

Development Review is within the Department of Planning and Zoning is located at 110 Vincit Street, Centreville MD 21617.  Find us here.  Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8AM to 430PM. 3. What is my property zoned?

You can determine what zoning district you are in by going here and entering the address in the Search box at the top right.  Then in the Layers (bottom left click that ON) go to the Planning layer and expand it by clicking on the "+" symbol and then checking the boxes for both "planning" and "zoning".  

You may also call or visit this office if you are unable to access the Property Viewer/GIS on the County's website.  Additionally, you may email us and we can send you a print out via email that has the zoning information.

4. What are my setbacks?

Depending on the existing or proposed structure or use on your property, there are various required distances from property lines or other uses; aka setbacks.  Setbacks can vary greatly depending on the zoning district.  Sometimes setbacks are referred to as "building restriction lines" or "BRLs".  If you know your zoning district, you can find your setbacks here.
