The Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services, along with partnering agencies, will conduct a Full-Scale Emergency Sheltering Exercise at Centreville Middle School on Wednesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day.
This important preparedness exercise is designed to simulate a real-world emergency response, including the setup and operation of a public shelter. Residents in the area may notice increased activity at the school, including emergency vehicles, uniformed personnel, and volunteers participating in the exercise.
Please be advised this is only a drill and there is no cause for concern.
The goal of the exercise is to evaluate and improve sheltering plans, coordination among agencies, and response capabilities in the event of a major emergency. This type of training is vital to ensuring Queen Anne’s County is ready to respond when needed.
We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation as we work to strengthen the safety and preparedness of our community.
