Help Test and Improve Local Disaster Preparedness

The Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services (QAC DES), in collaboration with county partner agencies, is hosting a full-scale emergency sheltering exercise—and community volunteers are needed to bring the scenario to life.

The Exercise
Volunteers of all ages (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) are invited to act as shelter clients during this simulated emergency event. Participants may portray individuals seeking shelter services for themselves, their families, and even their pets. This important training exercise helps emergency personnel improve preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a real disaster.

The exercise will take place over two days:

  • Wednesday, July 16, 2025
  • Thursday, July 17, 2025
Exercise sessions will run during the following time blocks:
  • Morning: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Afternoon: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Volunteers may sign up for one or multiple time blocks based on availability.
