Update on Temporary Closure at Matapeake
Queen Anne’s County Department of Parks and Recreation would like to provide an update regarding the temporary closures at Matapeake related to a dredging and beach replenishment project conducted by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
- Matapeake Landing, including the Fishing Pier and Boat Ramp, is now open to the public.
- Matapeake Beach and Grounds will remain closed until further notice.
- Matapeake Dog Beach will remain closed until further notice.
The extended closure of the beach and dog beach areas is necessary to allow the dredged material to properly settle and stabilize before reopening to ensure the safety of visitors and the long-term health of the shoreline.
