[ARCHIVED] Chesterwye Center Recognized for Character Counts! Pillar Respect

character counts (1)

The Character Counts! pillar celebrated in February is RESPECT. At its core, respect means treating others the way we want to be treated. This month, we recognize an organization that has demonstrated this value for over 50 years—Chesterwye Center.

Founded in 1968 by Bobby Ann Nash, Chesterwye was created to address the lack of services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Queen Anne’s County. Inspired by her own son’s needs, she brought the community together to establish a center that continues to provide essential services today.

Chesterwye supports individuals through Day and Residential Services, employment coaching, transition programs for high school students, and transportation services, helping them live with dignity and independence. Each day, they serve individuals in our community to ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.

For more than five decades, Chesterwye has been a cornerstone of respect and inclusion, ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities are valued members of our community. Their work continues to make a lasting impact, and their commitment to this pillar of character is evident in everything they do.

To learn more about Chesterwye Center, visit the Character Counts! website at www.peopleofcharacter.org or follow Character Counts of Queen Anne’s County on Facebook.

Know a business, nonprofit, or individual exemplifying the six pillars of character? Nominate them for a future spotlight!
