Due to the significant traffic delays, Emergency Medical Services in the county has been placed on a Blue Alert with the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services.
The Blue Alert is defined as follows:
- Blue Alert: Overrides all alerts except the Mini-Disaster Alert, ensuring all patients within the jurisdiction are transported to the nearest appropriate facility based on their medical needs due to extraordinary situations that temporarily strain the EMS system.
