[ARCHIVED] What is a Blue Alert in Queen Anne's County?

Blue and Pink Did You Know Facts Facebook Posts

Due to the significant traffic delays, Queen Anne's County Department of Emergency Services has implemented its "Operation Bay Bridge" Guideline. This guideline aligns with the Queen Anne's County Traffic Management Plan. Once this plan is in effect, Emergency Medical Services in the county will be placed on a Blue Alert with the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services.

The Blue Alert is defined as follows:

  • Blue Alert: Overrides all alerts except the Mini-Disaster Alert, ensuring all patients within the jurisdiction are transported to the nearest appropriate facility based on their medical needs due to extraordinary situations that temporarily strain the EMS system.

This measure allows our county's EMS providers to utilize additional resources to better manage the traffic delays. This may include air transport, transporting patients to facilities that may otherwise be on diversion, using the shoulder to navigate traffic, and more.

We want to reiterate that there is NO danger to Law Enforcement at this time. Thank you for your continued patience and stay safe.
