STEVENSVILLE – The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners on July 14, approved the expansion of the Chester/Stevensville Priority Funding Area (PFA) to include Matapeake Business Park and more than 100 nearby properties which are now eligible for Job Creation Tax Credits.
From time to time the county’s Priority Funding Areas, which are mostly located in DesignatedGrowth/Planning Areas and the eight municipalities, are updated to include additional properties that qualify as a Priority Funding Area according to the state statute.
There are 118 properties added to the designated planning/growth area which are now eligible for state resources. In order for the Matapeake Business Park to be included in the Job Creation Tax Credit PFA it had be contiguous to the rest of the Chester/Stevensville PFA. It had been separated by Camp Wright from the PFA designation which near Bay City.
The Chester/Stevensville PFA was last updated in 2008 as an implementation of the 2007 Chester/Stevensville Community Plan. All of the properties identified in the list of properties qualify to be included in the PFA based upon their zoning and/or designation in the Comprehensive Water and Sewerage Plan and since they are included in the Chester/Stevensville Planning/Growth Area.
The Planning Commission, at their regularly scheduled meeting on July 9, 2015, reviewed the expansion of the Chester/Stevensville Priority Funding Area and sent a favorable recommendation to the Queen Anne’s County Board of County Commissioners to approve the expanded PFA.
