County Commissioners Proclaim November 27 “Small Business Saturday” in QAC

County Commissioners declare November 27, Small Business Saturday in Queen Anne’s County. Queen Anne’s County supports our local businesses that create jobs, boost our local economy, and preserve our communities and advocacy groups as well as public and private organizations across the country have endorsed the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday. The County Commissioners urge the residents of our community and communities across the country to support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.

Small Business Saturday is an important part of the holiday season for our smaller merchants as they work to recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially founded by American Express in response to the Great Recession, the day is dedicated to supporting the diverse range of local businesses that create jobs, help boost the economy, and enhance our neighborhoods.

“It has been inspiring to see how our Queen Anne’s County Small Businesses have persevered through the pandemic, and now more than ever they need our community support,” says Heather Tinelli, Director of Queen Anne’s County Economic Development & Tourism. “I would love to see our residents make a point of shopping local this Saturday, and whenever possible throughout the year! Queen Anne’s County’s small businesses are the backbone of this community and there are many opportunities to support them this holiday season.”

Community members are encouraged to #shopsmallQA local retailers and enjoy a meal at one of our many restaurants. Shop both in-store and online and share your support on social media. Tag them and share what you love about them – from a favorite product to the great service they provide. It can go a long way to support a small business this holiday season.

Businesses that are interested in participating in Small Business Saturday can submit an event on VisitQueenAnne’s.com or include their information in our Facebook event for the day. The Department of Economic & Tourism Development will add participating businesses to our social media platforms and our website, along with information about any special offers, sales, and celebrations. Interested businesses can also contact the Department with any questions about Small Business Saturday: 410.604.2100 or rlepter@qac.org
