Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center Bulkhead will be Closed to Pedestrians Starting October 12, 2021
The Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center Bulkhead and boat ramp along the Kent Narrows will be closed to all pedestrians during construction beginning October 12, 2021 and remain closed until construction is completed. Construction is expected to last until May 2022. The bulkhead construction area will be delineated by orange construction fencing.
The contractors will work Monday through Friday and the closure will continue even during off times when no work is being done.
The Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center building, parking lot and Ferry Point Park will continue under regular business hours.
The project will consist of replacing the existing bulkhead, dredging in front of the new bulkhead, removing the existing platform and installing a new boat pier and platform. The existing southern boat ramp will be demolished and replaced. A boat lift will be installed at the northern ramp for the Natural Resource Police.
