Dr. Ciotola Gives a COVID-19 Update at the County Commissioners Meeting

Queen Anne’s County Health Officer, Dr. Ciotola gave an update at the County Commissioner’s meeting on March 9, 2021 marking nearly a year since the county began responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Dr. Ciotola opened the discussion by announcing that Queen Anne’s County will continue to follow the State of Maryland Guidelines about mitigation efforts being eased on businesses. The latest executive orders and guidance can be found here: https://governor.maryland.gov/covid-19-pandemic-orders-and-guidance/

Following that Dr. Ciotola went over current statistics for Queen Anne’s County. Current statistics can be found at the top of the QAC Health Department and QAC Government’s Facebook page and at qaccovid.org

“We have done over 2,000 vaccinations in our 75 and over populations and estimate there is around 2,000 more to go. We hope in the next two weeks we will begin to vaccinate residents 65 and over.” said Dr. Ciotola

Dr. Ciotola also stated that the vaccine allowance to Queen Anne’s County Health Department, slightly increased this week to 400 doses and hopes that future allotments will continue at this amount or more.

A special thanks was given to Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Department for providing space to hold vaccine clinics and the Pharmacy Department at Safeway on Kent Island for working with the Health Department on vaccinating residents from the county interest list.
