[ARCHIVED] Dr. Ciotola Urges Citizens to Follow CDC Recommendations and  Wear a Face Covering in Public

CENTREVILLE - Queen Anne’s County Health Officer, Dr. Joseph Ciotola urges all Queen Anne’s County citizens to follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations to wear some type of face covering when they go out in public for their essential reasons.

The CDC recommends wearing a face covering any place in public and especially locations where it may be more difficult to maintain the recommended six foot social distancing. These places include the grocery store and pharmacy. People that should not wear a face covering are children under the age of two, anyone with trouble breathing and any person that would be unable to remove the covering without assistance.

Some suggestions about your face covering:

Fit snuggly but comfortable against the side of your face

Be secured with ties or ear loops

Include multiple layers of fabric

Allow for breathing without restriction

Be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to its shape

Your face covering should be washed in the laundry depending on the frequency of use.

If you are unable to sew or know someone that can make a face covering for you, the CDC has several instructions on how you can make a face covering out of used clothing or bandanas. Use the following link to see several examples of no sew face coverings and recommendations from the CDC.
