More than 40 professionals applied to become Queen Anne’s County’s Economic & Tourism Development Director, seven of those were granted interviews, before Heather Tinelli, of Centreville, was selected as the best candidate.
County Administrator Todd Mohn said, “Ms. Tinelli is the current Director of Business Development for Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation. Prior to that she was the Main Street Coordinator for Downtown Denton Main Street and before that she ran her own accounting business.”
Tinelli is a lifelong resident of Queen Anne’s County, where she graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a minor in Economics from Washington College.
Tinelli was president and owner of Shore Accountants in Centreville where she grew the business from a part time venture into a profitable corporation with six employees and more than 500 clients. She sold the business after 15 years to a new owner that agreed to retain existing staff and focus on current client base.
“Ms. Tinelli has served as a Chairman of Queen Anne's County Chamber of Commerce and the Treasurer of Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center,” said Mohn. “She also served on our County Finance Committee.”
Tinelli has been an active community volunteer for a variety of local organizations for many years including Adopt-a-Bear, where she led fundraising and management for the local charity that provides Christmas gifts each year for more than 1,000 local children in need.
