[ARCHIVED] Community Volunteers Needed for Challenge Day

United Way of Queen Anne's County presented a $2,200 check to the Safety Net Committee, a subcommittee of the Local Management Board for their project - Challenge Day.

Challenge Day is offered to all 7th graders in QAC schools. It is an intensive day-long program where students from different backgrounds and social groups are brought together and mindsets are changed. Students realize they are not so different from their peers, breaking the barriers of social groups and reinforcing anti-bullying behaviors. Community volunteers, teachers and school staff help to facilitate the program with the Challenge Day facilitators. The committee is looking for volunteers now for Challenge Day, which will take place at each of the middle schools Nov. 18- 21. Contact Matt Evans, co-chair, at if you are interested in participating or would like to join in the efforts of the Safety Net Committee.

United Way of Queen Anne's supports this organization as well as over 20 other local non-profits that serve Queen Anne's County. The United Way of Queen Anne's County was established in 1990 in response to public requests for an agency to coordinate community service organizations.
