The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners selected low bidder Becker Morgan Group to redesign the county’s Emergency Operations Center.
Sealed proposals were received and opened on May 3, for the renovation of the Public Safety Communications Facility (911 Center) design contract. The work consists of complete design and construction administration services for renovation of the 911 call center, to achieve an increased number of workstations, improved acoustics, technological upgrades and facility recapitalization including lifecycle replacement of the roof and heating, ventilation and systems, both of which are original to the building and are nearing the end of serviceable life.
Proposals were solicited from qualified architectural firms in accordance with the county procurement policy. Four proposals were received as follows:
Becker Morgan Group of Salisbury - $ 29,750.00
George, Miles & Buhr, LLC of Salisbury - $104,129.00
Manns Woodward Studios of White Marsh - $174,826.00
Wheeler, Goodman, Masek of Annapolis, MD - $209,453.00
“Becker Morgan Group's proposal meets all the project requirements and offers the lowest design fee,” wrote county engineer Lee Edgar. “The building's original design was completed by Becker Morgan in 1999. The firm has considerable experience in the design of 911 and critical emergency operations centers, which we understand accounts for their extremely competitive pricing.”
Adequate funding is available in the approved FY2019 Capital Project Emergency Services Building Renovation budget.
