The fifth annual Across the Bay 10K will take place on Sunday, November 4th. More than 20,000 participants are expected to run or walk the 6.2 miles from Northrop Grumman on the western shore, across the eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, along Pier One Road and up Route 8 to the finish line in Chesapeake Bay Business Park.
The east bound span of the bay bridge will be closed at 12:00 a.m. Sunday morning to prepare for the runners and is expected to reopen at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. During this time frame, the west bound span will carry both east and west bound traffic.
For the additional safety of the participants and spectators, the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Department and the SHA have approved a temporary detour of Route 18 between Main Street and Love Point Road from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th. During this time, traffic will be detoured through Stevensville on Love Point Road and Main Street. In addition, residents wishing to travel west on RT. 50 are advised to approach the highway on either Duke Street or Castle Marina Road.
