Queen Anne’s County Commissioners were honored at their September 9 meeting with a special presentation from the Queen Anne’s Chorale.
Earlier this summer, members of the Chorale traveled to Normandy, France, where they performed as part of the international D-Day commemoration events. With the help of the Queen Anne’s County Library, the Chorale researched and located the grave of Private First-Class William H. Quillen, a Centreville native who lost his life during World War II and is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery.
The Chorale placed a Queen Anne’s County flag at his grave during the trip. Signed by Chorale members, the flag was formally presented to the Commissioners as a lasting tribute to Private Quillen’s sacrifice and the county’s connection to this moment in history.
Queen Anne’s Chorale participates in regional and international performances and is supported in part by the United Way of Queen Anne’s County, the Queen Anne’s County Centre for the Arts, and the Maryland State Arts Council.
