🌍 National Public Health Week | April 7–13, 2025
Theme: “It Starts Here”
This week, Queen Anne’s County joins communities across the country in recognizing National Public Health Week (NPHW) — an annual celebration dedicated to highlighting the essential role public health plays in keeping us safe, informed, and thriving.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of NPHW, and the 2025 theme, “It Starts Here,” reminds us that health and wellness begin in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, and local communities. Every healthy choice, every act of prevention, and every supportive policy contributes to a healthier future — and it starts with us.
Public health professionals are on the front lines every day:
✅ Responding to disease outbreaks
✅ Promoting access to healthcare and education
✅ Preparing for natural disasters
✅ Tackling health disparities that vary by zip code
✅ Advocating for healthy environments and safe communities
From clean water and vaccination programs to nutrition education and emergency preparedness, public health efforts over the past 30 years have improved — and in some cases transformed — the way we live.
Yet, our work is far from over. Health outcomes are still deeply impacted by where people live and their access to services. That's why equity remains a cornerstone of public health action.
The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners proudly proclaim April 7–13 as National Public Health Week and encourage all citizens to reflect on the importance of public health in our daily lives. Let’s celebrate our public health heroes and commit to building a healthier future — together.
