[ARCHIVED] Water Meter Replacement Project in Grasonville and Kent Island

Meet the team!

Water Meter Replacement Project in Grasonville and Kent Island

US Water/ Keystone Utility Systems, in collaboration with Queen Anne’s County, announces the commencement of a project to replace existing water meters in the Grasonville and Kent Island area. This initiative aims to enhance water infrastructure and ensure efficient service delivery to residents.

Beginning this month, US Water/ Keystone Utility Systems, under contract with Queen Anne’s County, will embark on the replacement of water meters across Grasonville and Kent Island. The majority of these meters are located outdoors in meter pits along roadsides, with a minority requiring access to crawl spaces or utility rooms. This project will exclusively affect residents currently subscribed to county water services.

The projected timeline for specific neighborhoods is as follows: Prospect Bay is slated to begin the end of March, Cloverfields in early April, and Bay City around mid-April.

All contracted technicians will carry identification badges labeling them as meter technicians with Keystone Utility Systems. They will operate marked Ford Trucks bearing Pennsylvania license plates. Residents can expect work to be conducted from Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

While the majority of meters are exterior, placed within meter pits along roadsides, Keystone Utility Systems may knock on doors to provide advance notice of a brief water service interruption, typically lasting 15 to 30 minutes, as a courtesy. Residents are not obligated to respond to the knock; technicians will proceed with the meter replacement regardless.

For properties with interior meters, US Water/ Keystone Utility Systems will send letters containing contact information. Additionally, door hangers will be placed as reminders for scheduling appointments. Residents with interior meters are encouraged to call 877-587-2279 on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM to schedule appointments.

To prevent any confusion regarding the presence of technicians who are not Queen Anne’s County employees, the public is advised to verify their identity. For further inquiries or to confirm the involvement of technicians in this project, residents may contact Queen Anne’s County Department of Public Works, Sanitary District at 410-643-3535.
