2024 opioid awareness poster contest (1)

Queen Anne’s County is proud to announce the launch of the 2024 Opioid Awareness Poster Contest, aimed at empowering young minds to combat substance abuse before it's too late. Open to all 6th-12th-grade students in Queen Anne’s County, this initiative encourages participation in spreading positive messages about substance abuse prevention.
The contest is a collaborative effort spearheaded by The Drug Free Coalition and QAC Goes Purple, aimed at engaging and empowering the youth to create impactful messages fostering awareness and prevention regarding substance abuse.
Participants are not required to be professional artists; they can submit their entries using a photograph they've taken, paired with an appropriate message or by selecting a non-copyrighted image to complement their message.
“We are seeking powerful and creative messages that promote awareness and prevention of substance abuse in a positive light,” said County Commissioner Jim Moran. “This contest provides an excellent platform for our students to express themselves creatively while contributing to an important cause affecting our community.”
To participate, interested individuals can visit QACGoesPurple.org to access contest rules, suggested messages, and the Entry & Consent Form. Entries must be received by February 14, 2024, at midnight to be considered for the contest.
Each participating group will have one winner, including Centreville Middle School, Sudlersville Middle School, Matapeake Middle School, Kent Island High School, Stevensville Middle School, Queen Anne’s County High School, and Private / Homeschoolers (Faith Christian School 9th-12th, the Gunston School, Wye River Upper School, and QAC 9th-12th-grade homeschoolers).
Generous donations from Economy Tree Service, Campbell’s Driving School, and Trax Advantage Driving Academy have made the following prizes possible:
•    Middle Schoolers (6th-8th Graders): $300.00 Amazon Gift Card
•    Highschoolers (9th-12th Graders): Choice of $300.00 Amazon Gift Card or a Free Drivers Education Course
“This initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support from our community partners. Their contributions will help in recognizing the efforts of our young participants,” added Warren Wright, Drug Free Coalition.
