[ARCHIVED] Chance for Significant Severe Weather Today

Rainfall Totals by Friday Oct 30

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has released information on the potential for Severe Weather to develop today, Friday October 29th. Our region has an elevated & significant chance for severe weather. Below is information detailing what we can expect in Queen Anne’s County:

 

  • Timing: Today
    1. This may change as the storm progresses through our region so it will be important to monitor local forecasts throughout the day.
  • Primary Impacts: Severe winds & Tidal Flooding
    1. Significant Tidal Flooding should be expected during high tide Friday night
    2. Periods of sustained Gale Force winds are possible especially in the afternoon into the evening, with gusts up to 60 MPH possible 
  • Secondary Impacts: Significant Rainfall & Flooding
    1. 1-2 Inches of rain can be expected over the next 24 hours with potential to 2-3 Inches in some areas
    2. Areas prone to flooding may experience flash or sustained flooding as a result of regional rainfall
