Queen Anne’s County announces that Amy Moredock has been named as Director of Planning and Zoning. Amy formerly served as the County Principal Long Range Planner since June of 2019.

In her role as County Principal Long Range Planner she has had many great accomplishments including Text and Code Amendments, the Climate Resilience Plan which she chaired the workgroup, Critical Area Project Reviews, Draft Update to the Critical Area program and Heritage Reviews which included coordination with the Heritage Partners. Her favorite accomplishment so far has been building partnerships and collaborative relationships with her colleagues.

As the director, she will be providing vision and management leadership to the Department of Planning and Zoning which is charged with community planning, land planning, design management, project review, building code review, inspections and enforcement. Moredock says, she is “excited to work with staff, the Planning Commission, and the community to update the County’s Comprehensive Plan so that we are in a strong position to update our Zoning Code to better serve the changing needs of the County.” She says she is “energized by the opportunity to see the community successfully plan for a strong economy and a safe, resilient environment.”  In addition, Moredock added that she is looking forward to working closely with our Information Technology Department to make electronic submittals of permitting and planning applications a viable convenience in the near future.”

Prior to joining Queen Anne’s County, Amy was the director of Planning, Housing and Zoning in Kent County and has been a professional planner in Maryland for almost 20 years. The diversity of her experience has afforded her the opportunity to serve on a great many state boards and committees and to speak at even more statewide public forums.  Moredock says, “she enjoys representing the local government perspective with her colleagues throughout the state and bringing a broader perspective back to the County as a result of these connections.”

Moredock has lived locally since 1999, in Kent County with her Husband Kevin Gilchrest, who is a math teacher at Radcliffe Creek School.

“Please join us in welcoming Ms. Moredock to her new role as Director of Planning and Zoning.” said Todd Mohn, County Administrator
