US 50/301 Ramp Management Program Continues on Kent Island to Improve Local Access and Traffic Flow

Queen Anne’s County, in partnership with the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), will continue the US 50/301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) Ramp Management Program on Kent Island this summer. The initiative aims to encourage westbound travelers to stay on US 50/301 and help relieve congestion on MD 18 (Main Street) for local residents and emergency responders.

Following a tied vote on a proposed ordinance 25-06 An Act Concerning the Use of Plastic Bags in Queen Anne’s County, the County Commissioners have announced a new initiative in partnership with Plastic Free QAC, aimed at encouraging residents to bring their own reusable bags when shopping.

The Queen Anne’s County Amateur Radio Club (QAARC) recently donated handheld Family Radio Service (FRS) radios and tabletop weather radios to Homeland Security classes at Kent Island High School and Queen Anne’s County High School, as well as an Enrichment, Extension, and Intervention (EEI) class at Stevensville Middle School.
