The Queen Anne’s County Department of Parks and Recreation is moving forward with one of its major FY26 Capital Projects, the replacement of the Mowbray Park Playground.

Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to be completed by early summer 2026. During construction, the playground will remain closed to the public.

We will reopen the MD 405/US 301 median crossover in the Price area of Queen Anne’s County on Monday, October 13.  A public meeting will be held on October 20 from 5:30 - 7 PM at Price Community Center.

Queen Anne’s County, in partnership with the Baltimore Metropolitan Council, will host a public meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2025, to present the proposed options from the US 50/301 Pedestrian Overpass Feasibility Study. Queen Anne’s County is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne “Annie” Sparks as the new Director of Aging and Transportation. This appointment comes as part of the County’s restructuring of the Department of Community Services into two stand-alone departments: Housing and Family Services, and Aging and Transportation.

Queen Anne’s County Animal Services is excited to host the Eastern Shore Fur Festival, a community adoption event celebrating pets, families, and fun. The festival will take place this fall and will feature adoptable animals, local vendors, food, crafts, and activities for all ages.

The Bay Bridge Run will take place on Sunday, November 9. The participants will run or walk the 6.2 miles from Northrop Grumman on the western shore, across the eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, along Pier One Road and up Route 8 to the finish line in Chesapeake Bay Business Park.

The Area Agency on Aging, through Maryland Access Point, is pleased to host the 2025 Caregivers Conference on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Kramer Center, located at 104 Powell Street, Centreville, MD 21617.

This event is designed specifically for caregivers, and registration is required. Seats remain available, but tables are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
