Queen Anne’s County Department of Parks and Recreation would like to provide an update regarding the temporary closures at Matapeake related to a dredging and beach replenishment project conducted by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). - Matapeake Landing, including the Fishing Pier and Boat Ramp, is now open to the public.
- Matapeake Beach and Grounds will remain closed until further notice.
- Matapeake Dog Beach will remain closed until further notice.

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners will be releasing the draft budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on April 30. This will be an updated budget following the Budget Workshops that we held in March and April. The draft budget will be mailed to county residents and also will be available on our website in the budget section. https://www.qac.org/587/Budget-Section Following the release of the County Commissioners draft budget, we will hold 3 Public Information sessions, adjustments may be made and the final budget will be adopted in June.

Queen Anne’s County Department of Community Services is pleased to announce a free CarFit event for older drivers, taking place on Tuesday, May 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Kent Island Senior Center, located at 891 Love Point Road, Stevensville. CarFit is an educational program developed to help older adults ensure their personal vehicles “fit” them properly for maximum comfort and safety. At the event, drivers will work one-on-one with trained technicians and health professionals who will guide them through a 12-point checklist. Each year on the third Saturday in May the Kent Island Heritage Society celebrates the heritage, life, and culture of Kent Island. The celebration this year will be on Saturday, May 17, and will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Kent Island Heritage Society.
