The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners invite residents to a Town Hall meeting to discuss the US 50/301 Ramp Management Program on Kent Island. This event offers a chance to hear program updates, engage with county and state officials, and share feedback on the initiative that began in 2023.

The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with a self-guided presentation showcasing study results and next steps for the program. A formal presentation will follow at 7:00 PM, concluding with an open forum for public feedback.

Governor Wes Moore, Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, and Cabinet Visit Queen Anne’s County

Governor Wes Moore, Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, and members of the Governor’s Cabinet visited Queen Anne’s County on April 4, 2025, for a full day of discussions, meetings, and site tours focused on local priorities and economic development.

The visit began at Chesapeake College’s Health Professions and Athletics Center (HPAC) in Wye Mills, where the Governor and his team participated in a series of meetings, including a closed-session cabinet meeting. Governor Moore also held a one-on-one discussion with Queen Anne’s County Commission President Chris Corchiarino, addressing key county initiatives and opportunities for state support. Animal Services "Litters the Lawn" to Raise Awareness for Spay and Neuter Efforts

If you’ve driven past the front lawn of Queen Anne’s County Animal Services lately, you may have noticed something unusual—lots of pink and blue cat cutouts covering the grass. It’s not just for decoration. Animal Services has “Littered the Lawn” as a visual campaign to highlight the critical importance of spaying and neutering cats in our community.

Queen Anne’s County Planning & Zoning Provides Update on Citizen Access Portal

At the recent County Commissioners meeting, Queen Anne’s County Planning & Zoning Director Amy Moredock and Department staff provided an update on the progress of the Planning & Zoning Citizen Access Portal. A dedicated Implementation and Management Workgroup, including Lauren Pyle, Megan Peek, Brian Barnshaw, Vivian Swinson, John Shelton, Kendall Larrimore, Laura Foster, and Ann Johnson, has been instrumental in the portal’s success.

Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Update

On Tuesday April 8, we held the Municipal Tax Set Off Hearings. 

The budget work session for April 10 was cancelled, it was scheduled to review the Outside Agency Grant Requests and those were reviewed during the regular County Commissioner Meeting on April 8.

The County Commissioners Proposed Budget will be released on April 30. The budget will be posted to the county website at www.qac.org and mailed to county residents.

Public Information Sessions will be held for the public to give input on the proposed budget. Sessions will be held May 19 at Kent Island Library, May 20 at the regular County Commissioner Meeting and May 21 at Sudlersville Middle School. All of the Public Information Sessions will begin at 7:00 PM.

Queen Anne’s County Offers Free Community Emergency Response Training

Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services is pleased to offer another free session of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training. Queen Anne's County Department of Health will be offering a Rabies Clinic for cats, dogs, and ferrets on April 16, 2025 from 4-6PM at their location in Centreville. Queen Anne's County Department of Health (parking lot) 206 N Commerce Street in Centreville. $5.00 per animal - please bring exact cash or check along with previous vaccination records. Please ensure all dogs are on leashes and cats and ferrets are in carriers.  Maryland law requires all dogs, cats and ferrets over the age of 4 months be vaccinated against rabies. Pets must be 12 weeks old to receive vaccination. Rabies vaccine is good for one year without prior vaccination and is good for 3 years with prior vaccination. Vaccine is good for only one year for ferrets.
