QAC Aging and Transportation
It's Senior Center Month! Join Us in Making Some Connections! Queen Anne's County Senior Centers are celebrating National Senior Center Month this September! This year the theme is "Powering Connections." Senior Centers are vital to the health and well-being of a community. They provide countless hours of support and encouragement to older adults and become integral to health care delivery in our community by providing guidance, sources of information and education, and other life improving qualities to participants. They offer a place for older adults to discover their unique interests, talents, and aspirations. Don't just take our word for it, see what the National Council on Aging (NOCA) has to say RIGHT HERE. Whether you are a new friend or have been visiting for years, everyone here encourages you to go out to your local senior center and say hello! WATCH BEFORE YOU STEP! Take control of your health this month with Falls Prevention Week. Running from September 23rd - 27th, Falls Prevention Week aims to help you be more aware of your health and to take into consideration your risk of a fall. A fall can happen to anyone. One of the best things we can do to stay healthy is to stay aware and to stay informed. Help celebrate Falls Prevention Week by being safe and by reading/sharing some of these amazing resources: Debunking the Myths of Older Adult Falls. Take NCOA's Falls Free CheckUp to see your risk of a fall.
