Stay Cool and Safe this July! As we dive into the summer heat, it's important to stay cool and safe. When extreme heat and dangerous heat indexes are expected this summer, Queen Anne’s County will open Cooling Centers for any community members needing a cool retreat. The Department of Community Services has cooling centers open to the public today, from 8:00AM - 4:00PM, providing ice and water at the following locations: - Grasonville Senior Center: 4802 Main Street, Grasonville MD
- Kent Island Senior Center: 891 Love Point Road, Stevensville MD
- Sudlersville Senior Center: 605 Foxxtown Road, Sudlersville MD
Additionally, both the Centreville and Kent Island branches of the Queen Anne’s County Library are available as cooling centers. Check their current hours on their website. Stay informed on the latest weather updates by visiting the National Weather Service. For Heat Related Preparedness Information, visit the CDC’s website. The National Institute on Aging also provides valuable information on hot weather safety for older adults.
