Winter Storm Jonas continues to bring snow to the area. Currently at the Department of Emergency Services, snow measurements of 13 inches have been recorded.

Utilities are reporting there are no customers in Queen Anne’s County with power outages.

At 9:00 pm on Friday night, the Bay Bridge activated Phase II wind restrictions. Phase II restrictions prohibits empty trailer, box trucks or high profile vehicles.

The Emergency Shelter located at Centreville Middle School is operational and accepting anyone that needs a warm place to wait out the storm. The shelter is accepting pets, so don’t leave them behind.

There will be periods of sleet and freezing rain today. This should switch back to snow this afternoon and will continue through tonight. Snow may linger through early Sunday morning before ending. A blizzard warning remains in effect until 6:00 am Sunday. Snow totals are expected to reach up to 24”. High winds continue to be a concern with gusts between 45 and 60 mph with sustained winds at 30 mph. The high winds will continue today until around noon then will start decreasing slowly over the next twelve hours.

Due to hazardous conditions we urge all citizens to stay off the roads at this time.
