Update on the Department of Community Services

40th Anniversary

Last night at the County Commissioners meeting we heard an update from Cathy Willis and Mike Clark about all the exciting things happening at the Department of Community Services.

The Division of Housing and Community Services went over efforts throughout the pandemic to support tenants and landlords through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Since May of 2021 we have assisted 101 families to avoid eviction.

In September the department celebrated the 40th anniversary of establishing the Queen Anne’s County Department of Aging. The Commissioners participated in the celebration and took their annual Senior Center Tour.

The Commissioners also recently provided a meal to the Seniors in Sudlersville at their weekly Pickin and Grinin evening dance. The Commissioners will also be serving dinner at the Kent Island Senior Center and Grasonville Senior Center next month.

Filling vacancies continues to be a challenge. If you are interested in working with the Department of Community Services visit qac.org and click on the employment icon to see our current job openings.
