A Message to Citizens From the County Commissioners Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine

Message From QAC Commissioners copy

Dear Queen Anne's County Citizens,

Across the United States COVID vaccines are out but are not yet fully administered. However, in Queen Anne's County your local government is concentrated on getting vaccinations to the public as promptly as the vaccine is provided to our Health Department.

The CDC has determined that first responders, healthcare workers, and vulnerable elements of the population will receive vaccinations first. At the rate the vaccine is coming in, this initial phase may take several weeks. We have not yet been told how the State or Federal Governments intend to prioritize and distribute to the general public after the initial stages. Based on the amount of vaccine provided to the County to date and the constraints on who can receive the vaccine and when, we expect the roll out to take the better part of this winter and spring.

You can be sure as soon as we are informed of updated directives, we will keep the public updated. Likewise, we will keep you advised of how this process is developing in terms of our rate of supply and other relevant information.

Unlike some jurisdictions where the vaccine shots are getting banked up in cold storage, Queen Anne's County is pushing forward and will have administered its initial supply of vaccines during this week.

We stay ahead of this process, by making every conceivable effort to deploy County resources for rapid distribution.   While we await our next allocation, we are evaluating how to continually improve our efforts to get these vaccines into the arms of County citizens.

Sincerely,

Queen Anne’s County Commissioners
