Mission Statement
The performance, conduct and attitude of a law enforcement agency is directly
influenced by the organization's mission. A mission provides the foundation to
base organizational policy and operational decision making. It provides the
organization with constancy of purpose.
The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office has progressed from providing a
limited number of services to the citizens to now being a "full
service" Sheriff's Office . In addition to performing the traditional
police services, other duties are imposed on the Sheriff's Office by the
Maryland Legislature i.e. court security and civil process. |
| Basically, the duty of the Sheriff's Office is to safeguard the lives and
safety of all persons within the county, to protect property, and to assist in
securing to all persons the equal protection of the laws. Specifically, this
duty includes these responsibilities: to preserve the public peace; to detect
and prevent the commission of crime; to enforce the laws and ordinances of the
State and County; to apprehend and arrest criminals and those who violate or are
lawfully accused of violating such laws and ordinances; to preserve order at
public places; to maintain the safe and orderly flow of traffic on public
streets and highways; to cooperate with and assist law enforcement agencies in
carrying out their respective duties; and discharge its duties and
responsibilities with the dignity and manner which will inspire public
confidence and respect. |

- How do I obtain a police report?
- You need to send your request for a copy of a police report in writing
along with a $5.00 check made out to the Sheriff's Office to:

- What are your fees for service of civil papers?
- $30.00 fee per paper per defendant for civil papers from within the
state.
- $50.00 fee per paper per defendant for civil papers from outside the
state.
- How do I get fingerprinted?
- Go to the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday or Thursday between the hours of
9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, providing your fingerprint card. There is a fee of
$5.00 per card payable to the Queen Anne's Sheriff's Office.
- How can I get a deputy to speak to my group, class or organization?
- You can contact the Community
Policing Unit at 410-827-8634 , 410-758-0770 ext. 1216, or
410-778-7908 ext. 1216.
Please give us as much advance notice as possible, as requests are
frequent and taken on a first come first served basis

Does the Sheriff's Office offer any other services that
would be useful to me?

In addition to speaking with your group or organization,
the Sheriff's Office provides other services, such as Business
or Residential Surveys and Child safety seat inspections.
These services are offered at no cost. To schedule please contact the Community
Policing Unit at ext. 1216.

Why does it take so long for a Deputy to respond to my call?

Calls for service are NOT dispatched on a " first
come, first served" basis. They are dispatched according to
priority. The most serious calls are dispatched first. Due to call
volume and manpower available, there are also times when all available
deputies are busy on other calls.

My vehicle has been impounded by the Sheriff's Office. How
can I get it back?

Depending on the reason it was impounded, it may or may
not be released. To find out you need to contact the Duty Officer at
ext.1210.
If your vehicle can be released, you will need to bring the title or
registration of the vehicle, and a photo ID of yourself to present. Once
you are verified as the owner, you will be supplied with a vehicle
release to take to the tow service that towed your vehicle for the
office.

Where are the Sheriff's Office Sub Stations located?

The Sheriff's office currently has three sub
stations- one in Chester on Piney Narrows Rd. , one in Grasonville
on Main St., and one in Sudlersville on South Church St. Sub Stations
are not manned - they are utilized by the deputies as a place to conduct
investigations, interview individuals, complete paperwork, and make
phone calls.
