TASK FORCE ON GOVERNMENT SUSTAINABILITY

The Task Force on Government Sustainability is a group of eight county residents appointed by the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners. The group’s mission is to review and critique county government and make recommendations on restructuring to ensure long term sustainability while maintaining critical services.

The group will meet every Monday at 7 p.m. at the Chesapeake Exploration Center from January 10 through March 28, 2011 except for February 14. The group’s final recommendation is scheduled for April 12, 2011, 11:00am at the Commissioners’ meeting at the Liberty Building in Centreville.

County Commissioners Steven Arentz and Phil Dumenil will preside over the meetings with aid from County Administrator Gregg Todd while Murray Levy will serve as the group’s facilitator. Levy is a former Charles County Commissioner who served as that Board’s president and also represented Charles County in the Maryland House of Delegates.

The seven members are:

 Steve Kline, conservation lobbyist
 Rev. JoAnne Maxwell-Jenkins
 John McQueeney, former QAC Commissioner
 Jim Moran, owner of Increte of Maryland 
 Tom Saquella, retired director of the Maryland Retailers Association
 Richard Smith, former QAC Commissioner
 Paul Zeitlin, budget consultant for Deloitte
 Joe Zimmerman, CPA for Maryland National Capital Park & Planning, and 
   former QAC budget director
