CENTREVILLE – To make it easier for all citizens to participate in the budget process the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are again holding three budget hearings, one in each the north, central and southern parts of the county.
Each hearing begins at 7 p.m. as follows:
The operating budget is proposed at $133.8 million and the capital budget is proposed at $37 million. The county has proposed not to use the constant yield rate will keep the tax rate at $0.8471 per $100 of assessed value, resulting an additional $670,000 in revenue.
Funding for the Board of Education is proposed to remain at maintenance of effort. Maryland law requires each county spend as much per student as it did the previous year. For Queen Anne’s County that rate is approximately $55.5 million, an increase of about $1.3 million.
Full details regarding the proposed FY 2018 budget can be found on the county’s website at http://www.qac.org/587/Budget-Section.
