#VisitQAC Photo Contest Rules
Term:Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism’s Photo Contest begins December 12, 2018 and ends January 31, 2019 at 11:58Pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that he or she is 18 years or older.
Who May Enter:
Open to any photographers who are 18 years or older. Contestants younger than 18 must have parental consent.
What to Enter:Categories for consideration are:
Nature/Landscapes:Animals, plants and landscapes; geological or climatological features.
History/Heritage:Local Queen Anne’s County towns, historical sites, people, festivals, activities.
Living & Working on the Water
Live Like a Local (people):capture the feeling of life and leisure in Queen Anne's County
Culinary Experiences:Showcase the abundance of amazing seafood, agriculture and dining experiences in Queen Anne's County.
To be eligible for any category, a photograph must have been shot by the entrant since January 1, 2017 within Queen Anne’s County, Maryland.
Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. We do not accept digitally enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments including sharpening, contrast and slight color correction adjustments or digital equivalents are acceptable in all categories. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any photo that has deemed excessively altered.
For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian. Be prepared to provide it to Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourismupon request (Model Release). Similar, entrants whose photo depicts other people’s work (such as sculptures, painting and other copyrightable works) may need to obtain a release from the rights holder. Be prepared to provide it to Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism upon request (Work Release).
Photos that have won other awards are not eligible (having won, grand prize, first, second or third place in other photo contests)
Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content as determined by Queen Anne’s County in its sole discretion, are ineligible for all categories of this contest.
HOW TO ENTER:Please submit photographs and requested information through our website; ONLINE ENTRY FORM. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail. Submit no more than 4 photos per category. We do not accept more than one contestant per email address. Photos submitted are to be at least 1024 pixels wide, so they can be displayed without being stretched or distorted.
High quality scans of non-digital photos are acceptable. Digital photos should be submitted at the highest resolution possible. Use online entry form on website and complete a separate form for each photo submitted. Photos must be in a .jpeg or .jpg or .gif format. Files should be no larger than 10MB.
Queen Anne’s County may collect a photograph’s metadata upon entry.
You retain rights to your photograph, however, by entering the contest, you grant Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism and Queen Anne’s County Government and its departments (and those authorized by Queen Anne’s County Government) a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media existing or later developed, for any Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism or Queen Anne’s County Government purpose including but not limited to advertising and promotion, website, social media, printed materials, brochures, broadcast medias and other uses determined by Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism and Queen Anne’s County Government. Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism and Queen Anne’s County Government will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
The contest begins December 12, 2018 and ends January 31, 2018 at 11:58 PM EST.
Judging will take place:Judging will take place February 4th-7th with the top 3 photos in each category to be announced February 8th.
Top contending photos and winning photos will be on display at the Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center and at other Queen Anne’s County Buildings.
Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism will also feature selected photos on Facebook at Visit Queen Anne’s to be considered for a People Choice Award. The photo receiving the most social media likes will win the QAC Peoples’ Choice Award.
Decisions are final and binding.
